For this year, the skating surfaces will be prepared to coincide with the Tweed Winter Carnival and in subsequent years to start December 1st and end Feb 28th or as weather permits. AND FURTHER THAT these skating surfaces be promoted as being areas where accumulated snow is removed to encourage and facilitate the residents use and self maintenance while staff would utilize municipal equipment such as the Public Works John Deer (old sidewalk plow) to provide maintenance for snow removal. AND FURTHER THAT ice thickness would be tested at a minimum of 2 separate locations prior to staff or equipment working on the ice surface with work commencing only when confirmation of 8” of ice. The removal of snow would be at the discretion of Parks and Recreation Supervisor and not following a set schedule.
