BE IT RESOLVED THAT as a community and as a Council we recognize that there are many societal groups and events - past and present, parts of our history, parts of our families and our broader relationships, that are impactful on us in our day to day lives. As the Municipality of Tweed is both inclusive and always learning I am suggesting as a visible recognition we rotate the flag at the Jailhouse to identify some of these time periods. Feb - Black History Month Jun - Pride Month Sep - Truth and Reconciliation Month Nov - Veterans Month The flags at the Municipal Office on Metcalf will continue to fly the Federal and Provincial flags only. The Manager of Parks and Recreation will consider other requests for the Jailhouse individually. In lieu of any specified flag of recognition the Jailhouse will fly the Canadian Flag; AND FURTHER, that with the flying of special flags it may be assumed by staff that Council has declared the appropriate theme for the Municipality for sharing on the municipal website, in the municipal news column, and on social media.
